Taking Ownership

It was unexpected for me to assume my role as President of the National Association of REALTORS®(r) so early. I did it with the knowledge that there is still work to be done to make NAR an inviting experience for its members and staff. This is a time for transformation and opportunity. This year at our Leadership Summit, I presented a book which inspires me both as a leader and broker. Extreme Owning by two retired U.S. Navy Seal officers applies lessons from SEAL team training in business. It is vital that the leader owns the result. I am ready to do that. Clarity in purpose is essential. The purpose of our association is to empower you to do your job. This is the foundation for all activities we undertake, including advocacy in Washington and initiatives to help you make positive changes in your community. Good Neighbor Awards is one such initiative that has been running for 24 years. They devote a lot of time and energy to “ignite” and help others. They are great examples of people who take ownership and practice it.
